A new campaign to find two StudyAdelaide student ambassadors will be launched in the growing student market of Vietnam today to further boost SA as a study destination in the region.
The campaign launch in Hanoi, part of the South Australian Government’s current trade mission to Vietnam, will raise awareness of Adelaide as an Australian study destination and follows the huge success of StudyAdelaide’s 2016 Vietnam campaign.
Latest ABS figures show that international education is the State’s fifth largest export, worth around $1.2 billion in 2015 to the economy, not only bringing great vibrancy, but also supporting local jobs and tourism.
The ambassador campaign was promoted online and via social media, with more than 28 million views achieved and about 1100 students applying to be a student ambassador. As part of this year’s campaign, students can register their chance to win a trip to South Australia which is, already a popular study destination with international students due to our lifestyle and the standard of our universities and teaching organisations.
The two new student ambassadors will visit Adelaide for a month-long study tour and will share their experiences using social media and via networks in South Australia and Vietnam in ways that will capture the imagination among their student peers.
More than 30 South Australian delegates are presently in Vietnam and are also travelling to Thailand and Cambodia for a six-day South East Asia trade mission. South Australia has a strong and historic connection with the region, which has a growing urban population, rising incomes and increasingly modern infrastructure and industries, offering significant trade opportunities for South Australia.
Vietnam is presently South Australia’s fifth largest student market. Last year nearly 1600 students from Vietnam studied in South Australia, an increase of 13.5 per cent on the previous year. For more information about studying in Adelaide visit www.studyadelaide.com

Two-way trade between South Australia and Vietnam is currently valued at $478.5 million and 72,000 local jobs depend on exports. South Australia is very well placed to capitalise on the increasing demand for world-class goods and services that we provide and education is among that list.
South Australia is committed to further developing relationships with education and government representatives from Vietnam to encourage more students to choose Adelaide as an international study destination. Vietnam offers enormous economic potential and these ambassador programs are a great way to spread the word about what’s on offer to students in South Australia.
