More than 120 prospective overseas business migrants, from countries including China, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, are taking part in a South Australian Government-led exploratory visit this week.
As part of the visit, a regional trade expo at the Adelaide Town Hall today will showcase more than 35 South Australian regional businesses, hosted by Immigration SA, the Australian China Business Council (ACBC) SA Chapter and 11 regional councils.
This is an opportunity to showcase South Australia as a destination to live, do business and invest, along with the opportunity for their families to study and travel. Guests will network with regional councils and business operators and get to sample South Australian produce and products, with a view to exporting to their home countries.
The online investment and trade platform, SASD Connect, will be featured at the expo. This platform is designed to facilitate business between South Australia and offshore markets, particularly China. For more information: http://sasdconnect.com.au/.
Background
Immigration SA hosts an exploratory visit every November, inviting overseas business people and investors interested in migrating to South Australia. A large number of the prospective clients also visit other capital cities, so it is an opportunity to present the best South Australia has to offer and the business migration and lifestyle opportunities available.
More than 50 business people who have already made the move to South Australia will also attend this year’s regional trade expo, further increasing export opportunities for South Australia’s regional producers.
Quotes attributable to Investment and Trade Minister Martin Hamilton-Smith
The exploratory visit and the expo are part of the Government’s strategic approach to increase
engagement with high net worth business migrants, who play an important part in growing our
economy and creating jobs.
The regional trade fair provides the opportunity for regional councils and 35 representative South Australian producers to directly showcase their products to these overseas business people, and make contacts to increase future trade opportunities.
The group will also be looking at opportunities to do business in Adelaide and nearby regions, to invest in real estate and commercial projects, and consider schools for their children.
